Notes - Nancy L Collins was a visitor in George Lansdell's household in 1851. She was probably his wife's great niece, daughter of Henry Collins and Ann Manwaring who married in 1837 (Tonbridge 5 615, Dec 1837). According to partial information on the IGI and her birthplace given in the 1851 census (Henry and Ann Collens were living at 6 Grosvenor Rd, Tunbridge Wells) , Ann was baptised on the 24 July 1816 at All Saints, Hastings, Sussex, the daughter of William and Mary Ducksbury Manwaring. This couple moved to Maidstone where they had a number of other children including John (1831-1835) whose baptism on the IGI (Union Street Wesleyan, Maidstone) confirms the connection as he was son of William Manwaring and Mary Duckesbury Webb.
The 1851 census supports this. It shows William, a widowed policeman, born in Horsmonden. This backs up the suggestion he was the brother of Nancy Lansdell née Manwaring who was also born there. Patron submitted information on the IGI suggests they were both the children of William Manwaring and Mary Williams.
Nancy was also resident in George Lansdell's house in the 1841 census, together with her parents.
Nancy Lansdell Collens went on to marry Charles William Lovegrove in 1862 (Tunbridge 2a 770, Dec 1862). She was appointed executor of George Lansdell's will.
