  • Notes
    • There appear to be three Charles Leonards born in Cambridgeshire at about the same time.

There is Charles, son of Charles and Mary Ann Leonard, baptised 18 Sep 1864 in Castle Camps. He married Emma Susanna Ives on 6 August 1885 in Castle Camps.

Also, there is Charles, son of George and Harriet Leonard, born in Dullingham c.1864 and living in Brinkley aged 6 in the 1871 census and 16 in the 1881 census. On FreeBMD, there is a death of a Charles Henry Leonard, aged 19 in Cambridge Registration District in the 3rd quarter of 1884. This would fit in more closely with the age of the Charles born in Dullingham than that of the son of Henry Leonard.

Then there is this one - Charles, son of Henry Leonard, born in Castle Camps c.1865. Evidence comes from the 1871 and 1881 censuses in which he was aged respectively 5 and 15. There is no baptism for him in Castle Camps or surrounding parishes according to the Castle Camps website (www.rd29.net/cc).

There is an unmarried Charles Leonard who appears in the 1891 census aged 22 and born in Cambridgeshire. He is working as a potman in a hotel in East Ham, Essex. A Charles Leonard aged 33, boarding in West Ham, Essex and working as a dock labourer in 1901 is probably the same person. I suspect he is also *this* Charles Leonard, but have no positive proof.
