  • Notes
    • There is some doubt about the identification of this James Leonard. There was a James Leonard in Castle Camps who first married a widow, Mary Ann Gooch, and then after her death, married Susan Bradman in 1817. His first marriage was witnessed by an Elizabeth Leonard, his second by John Leonard. The James son of James and Mary Leonard does not appear to have near relatives of those names.

In the 1851 census, there was a James Leonard aged 66 in West Wickham. He was born in Castle Camps and was a farmer of 500 acres, employing 16 labourers. Given the prosperity of James Leonard (1754-1829), this seems a more likely candidate.
